Our first visit was nothing like the other reviews here. The place was clean, nice, and they took excellent care of my puppy on her first visit. Heck, she loved it! The techs and doctor spoiled her with all kinds of treats and loving, and she ate it up! Especially that paste treat, ahahaha. Either way, I dunno. Maybe I was lucky to hit them on a good day? Maybe the others hit them on a bad day? Regardless, it was pleasant for us and little Arya! Thanks for the professionalism, and kindness shown!
We are all so grateful for the Banfield (Gastonia, NC) team. I have to drive almost 40 minutes from my home, but it is totally worth it! I recommend this vet clinic 120%! If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
Dr. Burke and the staff is fantastic. I have many animals and some are elderly. I have taken some very difficult cases (renal failure, cancer, paralysis) to her and she always does an excellent job.
Dr. Burke and the Banfield team has assisted us with the euthanasia of two other elderly pets. The staff has always been kind, polite, caring, compassionate, and helpful. The facility has always been clean.
Doctor had to undo and redo what they had done at Banfield. As of right now our poor baby girl is doing much better, no thanks to Banfield. We told Banfield that we wanted a refund for the emergency surgery that was completely useless but they refused. Now we are currently looking for a new veterinarian to take our baby girl to. We will not be going back there!
The most remarkable case is my 17 year old chihuahua, Pretzel. Last year Pretzel lost mobility in all her back legs and strength in her front legs. Rather than suggesting euthanasia immediately, which we were prepared to do, Dr. Burke asked us to treat her with medication before we considered euthanasia because Pretzel still ate good and wold try to come to us. We discussed quality verses quanity of life and made a plan personalized for Pretzel. Pretzel just celebrated another birthday with us thanks to Dr. Burke.
I am not sure why this Banfield has such low reviews. I came from Maryland a year ago and was very upset to have left our vet of four years. I have three dogs and a cat that I see as my children. I was so glad to have found this Banfield and Dr. Burke. This vet team is so great! The customer service is incredible. They are so sweet not only to our pets, but also to us parents. Dr. Burke is by far the best vet my babies have had. She is caring and thinks 100% in the best interest of her patients. All four of my babies feel so comfortable with her and her vet techs. I have an 8 year old ShitZu mix with a skin allergy. In contrast to prior vets, Dr. Burke immediately started him on a no-expense plan to see exactly how we are going to fix it. He has not had a bad rash in several months (he used to have skin infections almost every other month) and we have not had to spend unnecessary money on medicine that never works anyway. We do use a special shampoo for baths, but it works so great that I will never switch. My older Shiba Mix was over 15 and had kidney disease. Dr. Burke, worked very closely with her to ensure she had a good quality of life. After almost a year of closely monitoring, things changed and it was time for my sweet baby to cross rainbow bridge. Dr. Burke and her team were so supportive. They ensured that we were all in a secure and peaceful environment. Their kindness made this painful transition easier. Dr. Burke had some kind words for her and allowed us to grieve in private.
I was greeted at the front desk by being told that I needed to renew my plan early which I hadn't been informed of then. The associate was unclear and unhelpful in helping me understand what I needed to do for my pet to get the care that I thought was already covered in the puppy plus care plan. I asked if I could wait to see how my visit went since I had never been to this location before because we just moved to the area and she said that it would be fine. She asked for me to put my dog on the scale and I pointed out to her that there was urine on the scale and she barely cleaned it up. While getting my dog on the scale, he got into another puddle of dried urine. I pointed it out to her and she said "yeah, there's pee everywhere". I went to the waiting area to wait for the vet to see us and once again there were two puddles of urine on the floor. I cringed as I watched another customer walk through it. When the vet tech came to get us, as we were walking to the exam room, my dog slid through another puddle. How disgusting. Once we got into the exam room, not one person greeted or acknowledged my dog and of course I was immediately forced into choosing my new plan before any services were offered for my dog. We were just dollar bills walking through their disgusting office. I told them that I couldn't commit to a plan right now after seeing how disgusting their office was so they sent me on my way. They did not once even look at my dog or offer to provide further services. All they cared about was getting me to sign up for the plan. After getting home, I re-read my email that I originally received from Banfield informing me that my dog was due for a check up and realized they did owe us things that were in fact covered by our plan. I cannot believe that any vet would treat their patients the way Dr. Burk and her staff treated my dog and I. It's not okay to corner me in and be deceitful about the services I am entitled to. We went back the next day to get the vaccines that were owed to us and once again, they didn't greet my dog. He has NEVER been nervous at the vet but he was this time. They gave him his shots and didn't give him a treat or any sort of praise or comfort. We got our medical records and went on our way and will never be back. I would not recommend this "pet hospital" to anyone.
At first we were happy with Banfield. Our puppy is always very happy and she was no different the first few times we took her. However, this past week has been completely awful. We took her to get spayed on a Thursday. She was dismissed with the E. collar. We followed all of their instructions and watched her very carefully over the next couple of days. That Sunday at 8 a.m. her incision began to open and a discharge of blood and pus was leaking out. Their office opened at 9 so we were there at 9 to find it what was going on. They took her back and then we didn't hear anything until 2 that afternoon. They said she had an infection and we had a couple of options to choose from that ranged from $400-$900. We opted to go ahead and do the surgery to remove the infection. They waited 5 hours to look at her when we brought her in for an emergency. Afterwards they told us that the E. collar that they originally had given her was too small so we had to get a bigger one. They sent us home with a new collar, pain medication, antibiotics and pills for sedation. The total was $700. When you spend $700 for corrective/emergency surgery you think ok we did what was best for our puppy and she is going to be on her way to recovery. This was not the case. The next day, Monday, her incision was coming open AGAIN! We rushed her back to the clinic. As soon as we arrived the tech took our puppy back so the doctor could have a quick check before her next appointment. We were then taken to an exam room where we waited for 30 minutes. The doctor came said she had looked at it and cleaned it up a bit and it looked fine. She was about to send us on our way until we showed her that th incision had gotten worse just in the time we had been waiting. When we showed her the look in her face was shock and completely dumbfounded. She left the room and was gone for another 30 minutes while she called around to other doctors. She finally comes back to tell us that they THINK that it may be an allergic reaction to the sutures but that they could not do anything for us because that is the ONLY sutures that they have. We then had to rush our poor puppy to an emergency clinic where she had to undergo ANOTHER emergency surgery. The new
I am a frequent visitor at this location and have yet to have anything other than great service.
