I am a member of the YMCA the other day I went to the south Y ...I wanted to work out in the pool and I checked online to make sure nothing was going on....when I got there a swim lesson was going on and they were all at the shallow end of the pool so I asked the life guard if I could the deep end to exercise he asked the instructor Logan and he Logan very rudely said no and suggested that I should have read all the signs on the door.....well I proceed to tell him that I am not a regular there and that I had checked online and it was not posted he then again very smuggishly shrugged his shoulders.....I understand that it was a class and I would have respected it more had he been nice.....but Logan is very rude this is not the first time he has been disrespectful to me I will not return to south ever and I think he needs to be fired
I have been attending the Y @ Union Rd. for a number of years. I am in need of water exercises as this helps me control the pain in my back caused by spinal stenosis. I have always found the staff to be very attentive to the clients using their facility. I love the Y.
This is a nice YMCA, I went a couple weeks ago on a guest pass and it was a lot of fun. The pool is pretty large and great for swimming lanes, or just swimming for fun. I went with some friends and they even gave us some rings to dive for. The hot tub is pretty nice, it just doesn't have very strong jets. The changing rooms while dated, were pretty clean. The staff was very friendly. I'd love to buy the monthly pass and go swim a couple times a week :)
Personally I hate it the front desk people always make a big deal out of me coming in as a guest and a girl too she's a minor just want to have fun right pay a $15-$10 fee right for each person. Instead they want nothing to do with the fact I wanna pay a guest fee they want to throw that membership stuff at my face and just make a huge deal put of me even coming in to just swim. Ps.... The older lady at the desk with red hair I remember is a bit nosey and think she's highly educated or some high authority of some sort. She started to ask really stupid questions and would not leave us alone. Overall bad experience Andi want the choice to always be a guest at a fee.
The South Gaston YMCA, and the Gaston County YMCA as a whole, has been a big part of my attempt to live a more healthy and fit lifestyle. The workers at South are always extremely pleasant to deal with and always have a smile on their face! I love what they stand for as an organization, and for all they do for the community. I look forward to being a member for years to come.
